Taj Mahal was built by a grief stricken Emperor Shahjahan as a memorial to his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. A world-renowned wonder, Taj Mahal sits pretty on the northern side of this green paradise. It looks the same from all the four sides! The Quranic inscriptions on its four entrances are carved in such subtle increase in size that may appear to be of the same size from top to bottom! Shahjahan invited master craftsmen from as far as Italy and Persia to help design his ambitious tribute to love.
The Taj Mahal is phenomenal not in the beauty alone that shines forth, but in the deep planning and design that went into its making, and the ethereal idea of immortalizing love. Delicate carvings in marble vie with gorgeous pietra dura for attention. Lapis-lazuli, Cornelian, Mother of pearl, Agate and Emerald are inlayed in floral and geometrical patterns in the marble itself. This enchanting mausoleum, on the bank of river Yamuna started in 1631 and it took 22 years to complete with the help of an estimated 20000 workers.

The forbidding exteriors of this fort hide an inner paradise. There are a number of exquisite buildings like Moti Masjid - a white marble mosque akin to a perfect pearl; Diwan-I-Am, Diwan-I-Khaas, Musamman Burj - where Shahjahan died in 1666 A.D. Jahangir's Palace; Khaas Mahal and Shish Mahal.

GLASS HOUSE BENGALURU
Of the many artistic structures in Lalbagh, the Glass House is the most famous. In the necklace of Bangalore's gardens, Lalbagh is a pendant and in the centre of this
pendant is the glass house in the form of a diamond. Today, as the jewel of Lalbagh, it is the centre stage for holding the famous biannual flower shows.
There is a stunning resemblance between Bangalore in India and London in England, as many structures in Bangalore city have been modeled upon the structures in London.
The foremost of these structures is “The Glass House of Lalbagh” constructed in the year 1890 on the model of Crystal Palace of London. In year 1936 Crystal Palace
accidentally caught fire and was burnt down. Thus, the glory of the great structure ‘CRYSTAL PALACE’ ended. Only its model remained with ‘The Glass House’ in Lalbagh,
Bangalore. Hence, it may not be wrong to call the Glass House of Lalbagh as the Crystal Palace of India.
The construction of the present Glass House was concaved in the year 1888 by the then superintendent of Lal Bagh, J. Cameron. He proposed the construction of Glass
House for the sole purpose of holding Horticultural show as conservation. The proposal was placer before the government of Maharaja of Mysore. His Highness Sri
Chamaraja Wodeyar who sanctioned the proposal in the year 1889.
The glass house is the venue for many flower shows. Over 350 varieties of flowers have been put on display at the exhibition that has flowers like roses, marigolds,
geranium and branchycome and celosia. Flower lovers are making a beeline to the ongoing week- long flower show at Lal Bagh Glass House.
Never miss the flower shows held around 26th January and 15th August every year. Fantastic opportunity for the flower lovers to enjoy. The center of attraction is
always so creative and mesmerizes all visitors.
